I have been crazy busy. Work is going very well at Miloco. I just started working for them full time. I am working largely on the business/administrative/maintenance side of things (a place became available) helping with invoicing and the like, however, they still want me to become an assistant engineer (as do I!).
I have assisted on a few sessions already: Roisin Murphy (formerly of Moloko), a large gospel choir with a band, Lawson (an unsigned pop band working with one of the members of Busted). The other day I helped setup for Mumford and Sons. My highlight so far was eating take out with Flood in his studio at about 1 in the morning while he was working on some monitor mixes. He's my mega hero! It has been a huge learning curve (tiring!). I get to visit the other studios regularly and I am also in charge of backing up all the music from the studios to long term storage.
I continued to fulfil a range of jobs at the studios and was able to squeeze in a few more assisting sessions. I had an incredible session on a final mix day for some of the tracks on Florence + the Machine's new album and I also worked on a session with Jeymes Samuel who produces with Jay Electronica. I was also really fortunate to work with an excellent engineer on some other mix sessions and he helped me get my head around the mechanics and intricacies of mix recalls on a beautiful analogue vintage Neve desk! I learnt a huge amount at Miloco and was very lucky to get stuck in at the sharp end of the industry and work with some extremely talented and creative people.
