Career Options

Graduates from the MMS Diploma Courses leave the School qualified to move into a range of careers without the need for further study. A major BBC presence just a mile down the road from the Midischool in Salford Quays’ Media City will stimulate the creative industries in the area and attract a huge range of media-related companies such as advertising, multimedia design, music, and of course, television and radio opportunities.

“Mediacity:uk will be home to 1,150 creative and related businesses, 1,500 trainee posts per year and employment opportunities for 15,500 people”

The music industry today covers a wide spectrum, from the few long established worldwide ‘majors’ such as the Universal Music Group, to a host of locally situated ‘independents’. More and more people have taken control of their futures in today’s music industry, which is characterised by self employment or freelance contract work. Courses at MMS teach the importance of personal attributes such as communication skills, self motivation, problem solving, and responsibility. Links with the Manchester City Music Network ensure that students have invaluable free support from this unique organisation’s advisors as they move into their professional careers.

Broader benefits of training in the high tech MMS environment are the transferable skills that come with this territory. I.T. - computers and the internet hold central roles across the multi media industries of TV, film, radio, live music venues, theatres, design and production companies.

Prospective students are invited to come and view the facilities and speak with a course co-ordinator. To make an appointment please contact the School during office hours.
