Q. I am thinking of coming to study at Manchester MIDI School from abroad does the School deal with accommodation ?

A. M.M.S no longer arranges accommodation but does have a list of recommended estate agents and contact details. please see our accommodation pages.

Q. Would it be best for me to stay at a bed and breakfast near the school prior to committing to my accommodation then viewing different options on arrival ?

A. This will probably be the safest option since you probably should see the flat or house first. Since there are many B&B's, hotels, and hostels you can find accommodation in any part of the city, or at any price range to suite your needs. Click Here.

Q. Will I need to bring any paperwork with me to show the estate agents ?

A. If you are staying at regular accommodation, all you should need is your passport. If you are going to be staying in student accommodation you will need an official letter from the school stating how long your course will run. It is also worth noting that once you have moved in to student halls you will also need a letter from the school for exemption from the city council tax.

Q. Once I have decided which course I am going to attend at M.M.S. and arranged my accommodation, what other factors should I consider ?

A. You should plan to have enough currency exchanged (or readily available) to live within your means for at least a month (depending on length of stay, and finances), and for anyone planning on using credit cards make note that most places in the U.K. do not accept Discover card. Pick up a calling card at the airport before you leave if you need to contact anyone. Make sure you have directions to your accommodation.

Q. Do I need to bring any paperwork with me to gain access to the U.K. and study ?

A. You will need your passport, a letter confirming when your course is, proof of your ability to fund your course, or some sort of receipt if you have already paid for your course. You may require a VISA if you are coming from outside of Europe - ukvisas.gov.uk

Q. Does it have to be a full time course, or can I study part time ?

A. It doesn't matter what amount you attend, you can work part time if you are attending the course full time, and work full time if you are attending part time, or on a break from the school.

Q. Does it have to be a recognised qualification ?

A. No it doesn't, immigration will simply ask you what type of qualification it is.

Q. When I have arrived in the U.K. will I need anything to open a bank account ?

A. You will need a picture I.D., and two other forms of identification to prove your current address.

Q. Will it be a student account ?

A. Probably not, typically you have to be attending a course that is at least three years long.
