Music Construction & Production
The music production classes are supported with printed notes. In addition to this, all studio practical time is assisted by technical support staff providing individual help and extra tuition as required.
The Course presents students with 7 assessments, mostly of a practical nature, which all contribute to a final grading for the Diploma qualification. The diploma is underwritten by Apple (Logic courses), and Steinberg (Cubase tutorials). A further qualification (Logic 101) comes from Apple, for whom Manchester MIDI School is also an official training centre.
Many graduates from our music college have gone on to work at the BBC, local radio stations, commercial studios, production houses, and record companies. Others have since received recording contracts, released material on their own labels, and become among the best music producers in their field (check out our 'Success and Feedback', and 'Artist Gallery' pages).
The unique framework of this music technology and sound engineering course at M.M.S enables students to learn at their own pace and work within their own musical tastes. We feel our approach is more personal than other music colleges: results and grades are discussed individually during tutorial sessions, plus feedback can be given on any project you are working on, not just MMS assignments. As the course progresses an audio portfolio of each person's practical work is compiled.
Since 'sound' is the very nature of the industry, students from the Diploma Course leave with the ability to demonstrate a proficiency and overall grounding in every aspect of the best recording studio practices. Examples of work that has been mastered and burnt / pressed by the student can then be passed on to prospective employers / record labels, in conjunction with the Steinberg Cubase and Apple Logic qualifications - giving instant access to skills and abilities.
Unlike other audio engineering courses, no previous knowledge of MIDI or recording studios is assumed or required.
