- Suitable computer systems - configuration and interfaces
- Pro vs bedroom equipment - how software advances are closing the gap
- Hardware - what is relevant to you and what the differences are between synths
- Breaking down the elements and construction of dance music
- Organising house/trance/techno/hip hop samples etc. and selecting sounds from analogue, digital and soft-synths.
Session 2 MIDI
- The programming and writing process
- Cubase / Reason / Ableton - sequencing sounds and creating grooves
- Drum programming essentials - learn to make beats
- soft-sampling / wave editing
- Overview of other current pro-studio software
Session 3 AUDIO
- Audio recording / editing / manipulation
- Arrangement - song structure and dynamics
- Building the mix - balancing bass, mid-range & high frequencies
Session 4 AUDIO
- Final effects and compressors - hardware and software versions available
- Mixdown - digital mixing console.
- Mastering with Waveshell
No previous knowledge of either MIDI or recording studios is assumed and you don’t need to be a musician to enroll on the course.
