Flash Atkins - The Sweetshop Video
by patt on Feb.18, 2010, under News, Uncategorized
Life loser, failed Super Hero and dis-reputable alcoholic Flash Atkins (AKA Midi School's Ben Davis) has managed to temporarily get his shit together and use his superpowers to create an amazing video for his brand new release, The Sweetshop.
The Sweetshop (Pick & Mix) has got lo-fi bass, crunchy drums and snapping synths all topped off with 70s crooner Caspa Codina’s sleazy falsetto; it’s pop music with a knowing wink and impeccable 80s credentials.
The video (http://youtube.com/flashatkins) for The Sweetshop is completely unique and turns social networking on it’s head; In a world where all the ideas have been used up, this is a NEW ONE! It takes a sideways look at Facebook / YouTube / My Space / Twitter and filters it all through the seedy world of Flash Atkins.
Remixes come from producer of the hour Medasyn with a big room electro mix complete with crowd noises, dirty distorted basslines and 80s arpeggiators Magik J does his hypnotic heads down thing with a vocal and dub suitable for those darker moments. The tracks mix up fidget, techno and house, guaranteeing full floors and thrown shapes.
The single is out on general release on March 22 but in the meantime you can hear it all on http://soundcloud.com/flash-atkins
So hop on board Flash Atkins’ booze wagon and see if we can’t chance The Sweetshop in to world domination! Flash will personally let you buy him a drink when you next pick him up out of the gutter.

We Love….DJ and Remix Competition
by patt on Jul.16, 2009, under Uncategorized
Our friends at We Love…. are looking for DJs to showcase their best mixes and producers to lend their talents to some of the most popular summer tunes.
DJ mixes are submitted to the We Love… team and each month a winning mix is chosen and given a platform on the We Love… website. Two monthly winners from 2008 have since gone on to play at We Love… Space, so it really could be the launch pad for a young DJ’s career.
Also, inspired by the current collaborative atmosphere on the scene, We Love… have devised a multi-label remix competition, highlighting and supporting new production talent. Showcasing the finest tracks from their pool of friends including artists such as Tiefschwarz, Paul Woolford and Yousef and labels like 2020 Vision, Buzzin’ Fly and Future Classic, this is the chance for new producers to get creative with some of the tracks that will be rocking We Love… Space all summer. The best remix of each track (chosen by the artist, label and the We Love… team) will be included on the official We Love… Space 09 DJ mix, as well as being released officially by the track’s label.
